هُوَ الَّذِي أَنْزَلَ السَّكِينَةَ فِي قُلُوبِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ لِيَزْدَادُوا إِيمَانًا مَعَ إِيمَانِهِم
“He is the One Who sent down sakinah upon the hearts of the believers so that they may increase even more in their faith.”
(Surah Al-Fath, Ayah:4)
Sakinah Canada is a faith-based charity dedicated to fostering spiritual growth and developing a strong, united Muslim community, guided by the core Islamic values of compassion, piety, devotion, and peace.
More than a charity, we are a community working together—to cultivate and strengthen the profound bonds of brotherhood, uplift one another, and build a future enriched by genuine service, and the pursuit of lasting spiritual tranquility for all.
Al-Baraa Ibn Azib, may Allah be pleased with him, reported that a man was reciting Surah al-Kahf, and he had his horse tied with two ropes beside him. A cloud came down and began to approach him, and the horse began to get restless. When morning came, he told the Prophet ﷺ what had happened. The Prophet ﷺ said: “That was the Sakinah (tranquility) which descended because of the Qur’an.”
(Ṣaḥīḥ Al-Bukhari 3614, Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 796)
عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ بْنِ عَازِبٍ رضي الله عنه قَالَ:
كانَ رَجُلٌ يَقْرَأُ سُورَةَ الكَهْفِ، وإلَى جانِبِهِ حِصانٌ مَرْبُوطٌ بشَطَنَيْنِ، فَتَغَشَّتْهُ سَحابَةٌ، فَجَعَلَتْ تَدْنُو وتَدْنُو وجَعَلَ فَرَسُهُ يَنْفِرُ، فَلَمَّا أصْبَحَ أتَى النبيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عليه وسلَّمَ فَذَكَرَ ذلكَ له فقالَ: تِلكَ السَّكِينَةُ تَنَزَّلَتْ بالقُرْآنِ

Our services are thoughtfully designed not just as programs, but as vital steps to deepen our relationship with Allah, strengthen the brotherhood bond, and support one another on our journey to enrich our practice of Islam with sincerity and purpose.
Our strength lies in our unity. We believe that spiritual growth is not a solitary journey, but a shared experience.
We strive to embody the divine command:
«وَاعْتَصِمُوا بِحَبْلِ اللَّهِ جَمِيعًا وَلَا تَفَرَّقُوا»"And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided." (Surah Al-Imran: 103)
To nurture this unshakeable bond of brotherhood, we create spaces for Collective Worship and Remembrance of Allah. These gatherings are the heartbeat of our programs, confirming the blessings of shared faith as the Prophet ﷺ promised:
«لَا يَقْعُدُ قَوْمٌ يَذْكُرُونَ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ إِلَّا حَفَّتْهُمْ الْمَلَائِكَةُ وَغَشِيَتْهُمْ الرَّحْمَةُ وَنَزَلَتْ عَلَيْهِمْ السَّكِينَةُ وَذَكَرَهُمْ اللَّهُ فِيمَنْ عِنْدَهُ»"No people gather to remember Allah but they are surrounded by angels and covered by Mercy, and there descends upon them tranquility (Sakinah) as they remember Allah, and Allah mentions them to those with Him." (Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 2700)
We believe that seeking knowledge is a sign of Allah's love for His servant. Our educational programs are driven by the profound promise of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ:
«مَنْ يُرِدِ اَللَّهُ بِهِ خَيْرًا يُفَقِّهْهُ فِي اَلدِّينِ»"When Allah wishes good for anyone, He bestows upon him the comprehension of the religion." (Agreed Upon: Bukhari 71, Muslim 1037)
With this inspiration, our Inspirational Lectures & Duroos feature teachings rooted in the Holy Qur’an and the Dignified Sunnah. Presented by respected Imams, these sessions cover the foundations of faith and provide practical guidance for living with God-consciousness (Taqwa). We deepen this understanding through Contemplation of the Qur’an (Tadabbur).
«كِتَابٌ أَنْزَلْنَاهُ إِلَيْكَ مُبَارَكٌ لِيَدَّبَّرُوا آيَاتِهِ وَلِيَتَذَكَّرَ أُولُو الْأَلْبَابِ»"[This is] a blessed Book which We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], that they might reflect upon its verses and that those of understanding would be reminded." (Surah Saad: 29)
This devotion culminates in our Night Prayers (Qiyam & Tahajjud)—gatherings dedicated to reflection and prayer during the peaceful hours of the night.
This practice is a powerful means of drawing closer to your Creator, described by the Prophet ﷺ as:
«أَفْضَلُ الصَّلَاةِ بَعْدَ الْفَرِيضَةِ صَلَاةُ اللَّيْلِ»"The best Salat after the prescribed Salat is Salat at night." (Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 1163)
These prayers serve as a powerful means of personal transformation, for the Prophet ﷺ also said:
«عَلَيْكُمْ بِقِيَامِ اللَّيْلِ فَإِنَّهُ دَأْبُ الصَّالِحِينَ قَبْلَكُمْ وَهُوَ قُرْبَةٌ لَكُمْ إِلَى رَبِّكُمْ وَمَكْفَرَةٌ لِلسَّيِّئَاتِ وَمَنْهَاةٌ عَنِ الْإِثْمِ»"Make a practice of getting up at night, for it was the custom of the pious before you, is a means of bringing you near to your Lord, an atonement for evil deeds and a preventative of sin." (Tirmidhi, Mishkat al-Masabih 1227)
